Cafe Rankings
Equation:
price + advertisement + (comfort - waiting time/100) + [availability-average(availability)]/standard deviation + menu(1/10) + [taste/average(taste)](10) + eco-friendly
Price

We wanted to value price as one of the most important categories when considering the best cafe. Therefore, we first calculated the z-score for the price of americano in each cafe. Then, we gave each of them points of 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 by dividing the range by -3 to -2, -2 to -1, -1 to 0, 0 to 1, 1 to 2, and 2 to 3.
Waiting Time and Comfort

We think that comfort of customers and the waiting time for the drinks were related to each other, so we decided to subtract the waiting time divided by 100 from the ratings of comfort. Because the unit of the waiting time was in minutes we decided to divide the value by 100 which would fit the scale. Therefore, the longer waiting time would give disadvantage to the cafes.
Menu and Taste

For menus, we divided the number of menus by 10 to fit the scale. Therefore, the values fell between 2 and 6 which reduced significant variety which can affect our ranking system. For taste, we divided the single taste value of a cafe by the mean of all values and multiplied that number by 10. Therefore, if the rate of the taste was higher than the average, the value would be higher than 10. We weighted the taste most importantly.
Availability

For availability, we calculated the z-score of the number of stores in South Korea and inserted the value directly into the equation. Even though the numbers were small, we decided to put these because we did not think this was the most important category.
